I was very sad to find out that Village Cafe and Sweet Shoppe is closing. Our book club enjoyed the hospitality and generosity of the owner, Debbi, in her restaurant, several times. One of our most memorable meetings took place at Village Cafe and Sweet Shoppe, in January 2011, when almost 25 book club members discussed “Too Big To Fail” by Andrew Sorkin. During this meeting, Shirley, who is one of the first women to become a PhD in United States, pointed out how proud she is to discuss such sophisticated and complex topics with so many intelligent women!
A big mahalo to Debbi for hosting us and for helping us build some memorable moments! We are sorry that you had to close the restaurant and we hope to see you at our book club meetings!
